Tree of Life Volunteer Project is a volunteer scheme implemented by Integrated Mental Health Services.
Objectives
- Facilitate better communication between community members and people in mental health recovery as well as their families
- Minimise discrimination and misunderstanding towards people in mental health recovery
- Achieve community inclusion
- Promote mental health, raise awareness of volunteers towards individual mental and physical health
Logo Meaning
The logo symbolises that everyone is like a branch of the tree of life nourished by sun and water,
supporting each other and therefore bearing the fruits of life.
The Project emphasises training volunteers to develop in various aspects in order to serve different service users. Apart from mental health knowledge and volunteer skills training, we also provide trainings related to individual and physical health to volunteers, moving towards the philosophy of "Walk and Experience with Love and Care", in companion with people in need.

Mode of Service:
- Carecall Project
- Call regularly to care for people in recovery who lack community resources (twice a month)
- Participate in community centre activities with service users to build their community network
- Assist in organizing centre events
- House Mentorship Project
- Visit regularly people in recovery at half-way houses, organise activities and get to know them
- Provide support in achieving their personal goals
- Accompany them to explore community resources
- Participate in community activities together
- Mental & Financial Health Promotion Project - Fit Money Mind Coach
- Help promote mental and financial health in the community
- Support for people in recovery from financial challenges
- Support the use of information technology for the elderly
- IT Buddy Project
- Support the use of information technology for people in mantal health recovery
- Stand By U Mentorship Project
- Provide homework guidance, emotional support and companion to activities for the young family members
- Accompany the young family members to participate in centre activities
- Be a role model for the young family members
- JoyAge Mental Health Project
- Provide Elderly Mental Health First Aid for understanding the emotional needs of the elderly
- Support activities and groups
- Support elderly at risk of depression
- Help promote mental health of elderly in the community
- College / Centre Professional Trainer
- Teach interests/skills in small groups
- Utilize extensive expertise and knowledge to co-plan mental and physical health courses and workshops with peer trainers who have experienced mental health recovery
- Lesson Assistant / E-buddy
- Provide one-time/short-term peer volunteer services to assist with classroom operations or support technology needs
- Peer Trainer/ Individual Learning Plan ILP Guide
- Use own recovery experience to plan mental and physical health courses and workshops with professional trainers
- Provide one-on-one peer coaching sessions for individual learning development
- Carer Peer Ambassador Project
- Provide in-person or telephone care to family members
- Sharing caring experiences in classes for family members
- Organise regular gatherings for family members
- Advocate for and concern about mental health policies and services
- Documents/ Questionnaires / Media, etc.
- Administrative/ post-event work for support services
Recruitment Criteria:
- Adults aged 18 or above
- Responsible, mature, willing to serve people in mental health recovery or their family members
- Completed basic training (Online training + 3 onsite sessions)
Recruitment Period:
Carecall Project - December to January annually
House Mentorship Project - December to January annually
Stand By U Project - May to July annually
